Hello! It has been a while since we checked in with everyone. You have my sincere apologies for the lack of communication and status updates since my last post. The company has faced many struggles this last year and while we have fallen behind schedule, we are all working hard to get back on track. There has been the question asked whether we are out of business, and the answer is no, we are still in business and doing our best to get our anthologies printed as quickly as possible. We love the work we do and the opportunity we have to encourage and inspire writers of all ages.
Due to the ongoing global COVID-19 pandemic, we are all working safely from home, and production continues on all our contests and publications. Our staff and families include high-risk individuals and we are taking all possible precautions; therefore, our office has been temporarily closed since March 15th and will remain closed until it is safer to return to work. However, work continues! Our phone will not be answered during this time, however letter mail and faxes sent to our office will still be collected and processed.
Current Printing & Editing Schedule
Open Ages Poetry 2019: The Winds of Change
Adult Creative Writing 2019: Voyages Through Time
These books are in the final proofing and editing stages. Estimated printing and shipment date: late Feb/early March. Once the books are sent to the Printers, they take approx. three to four weeks to print and be shipped to us. All orders are then packaged and shipped immediately, taking approx. four days to complete. The final prize winners have been chosen and will be posted to our website by the end of January. As these books are way behind schedule, we have increased the number of prizes for both contests. This includes three additional 2nd Places, four additional 3rd Places, seven additional 4th Places, and at least twenty-five additional Awards of Excellence. We want to thank everyone who participated and contributed their fine works.
Young Writers Poetry 2019-2020: Seashells and Sandcastles (ages 5-12) & Where Rivers Meet (ages 13-18)
These books are in the mid stages of editing and proofing. Many orders are still being processed as well. Proof sheets will be sent out starting in February, and we hope to have these books finalized, printed, and shipped in late April/early May.
Young Writers Creative Writing 2020: The Raven’s Riddles (ages 5-12) & Looking to the Stars (ages 13-18)
These books are in the early stages of editing and proofing. Many orders are still being processed as well. Proof sheets will be sent out starting in April (or possibly sooner), and we hope to have these books finalized, printed, and shipped in September.
Our upcoming contest schedules have changed due to the delays in the current books. Our upcoming contests are as follows:
NEW! Young Writers Poetry Contest 2021: Submission deadline is February 15, 2021.
NEW! Open Ages Poetry & Adult Creative Writing 2021: Submission deadline is July 31, 2021.
NEW! Young Writers Creative Writing Contest 2022: Submission deadline is March 31, 2022
Updated contest forms will be uploaded to the website soon. Please be sure to include your full name, age, and mailing address on your entries. Your age lets us determine the correct contest and prize category for your entry; your age is only printed in the books if you are 17 years of age or younger.
Please note: because we are still finishing up the 2019 Open Ages Poetry & Adult Creative Writing anthologies, there will not be 2020 Open Ages Poetry & Adult Creative Writing contests. All entries received for 2020 will be held until this July and submitted into the 2021 contests.
